PostSubject: FLY SPRAY?   Wed Jul 15, 2009 12:34 pm

where i live we seem to get a problem with flys during the summer, they dont normally come in your home but when they fly in they dont leave. awful things they are as i dont want them harming billy or laying eggs in his cage, i know by keeping the cage as clean as possible that should be ok, but i dont want to risk it and want rid of them.

so fly spray, is there any type that will be ok with billy in the same room? its impossible for me to take billy outa the room long enough for it to wear off.

and other suggestions on getting rid of the horrible little things?

Never use fly spray, i suppose if Billy was taken out and the windows open for an hour or two he would be ok, i just swat them, dont know what else to do with them!

Luckily we don't get many flies but do get spiders so i just leave them do get of rid of the little pests. Very Happy

Not sure if they'res any safe sprays or anything to use around birds so nets or the chain curtains sound your best bet pete.

I've found this article, on safe, homemade things to use to get rid of flies. Like a sticky paper you can make with all natural materials (even if a parrot gets to it he won't get poisoned) and water bags (never heard of this before!). Just in case you will want to use any of them http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/48042/home_remedies_to_get_rid_of_flies.html?cat=6

thanks, i have just been reading them. at the moment i am running around with a news paper lol, as a while ago i was told that flies are blind to the black and white of a news paper. after trying it i found this to be true, i can get right up close to a fly almost touching it with the paper and it still wont fly off.

as for the trap it in a jar method lol, i dont see why you would give it air holes, maybe some people would wanna keep it as a new pet LOL

Maybe the article was written by the vegans and they presume you are going to let the flies out somewhere away from your house? Very Happy
