Hi everyone

My name is Gemma and i recently became a mummy to a beautiful African Grey called Rosie. She is absoulouty gorgiz and very smart for her age (5mths) She can say 'hello' and 'away' and she copies my partners whistling all day lol

I noticed on Sunday that her nose seemed to be running with clear liquid comming from the right side of her nose. I phoned the vet on Monday an they said it was maybe because i moved her closer to the window and that she might have caught a cold. I got her cold mixture from the pet shop but it dosent seem to be working

She has an appointment with the vet tomorrow at 3 so if anyone has any ideas on how to make her better please get in touch.

Hello and welcome, were a small forum thats still very new so i hope you will stay with us and put some posts up, i think a vets visit is the best for Rosie, please keep us informed but in the meantime keep her warm and away from draughts. I strongly advise insuring her for vets bills, it doesnt cost a lot for it but can guard against huge vet bills where parrots are concerned, do you have a proper avian vet?

Hi

Thanks for your reply

The vet that she is seeing today is a proper aviarian vet who deals with African Greys so hopefullly he will make her better.

At the min she is just sitting wrapped up in a blanket beside me on the sofa Poor wee thing is not herself at all.

Any ideas on what to feed her when shes like this?? I have heard of people feeding them scrambled eggs and weetabix???

Hope she gets better soon xo Our house is sooo quite without her

Poor little sweetheart, scambled eggs, weetabix made with water and baby food although check the ingredients on them first is good for them when theyre feeling sorry for themselves, its awful when theyre quiet, the house doesnt seem normal!
