PostSubject: coconuts   Sun May 31, 2009 11:57 pm

i bought a coconut for cjs...cracked it open and it was like all dried up inside...so i took a screwdriver and scraped up all the dried up 'meaty' stuff and let him play with the shell...he loved it!!!...he kept peeling off the little hairs on the outside, kept him busy for hours...

...so then i decided to try again...this time the coconut was fresher, and so i gave him about 1/4 of a whole coconut, shell, meat and all...i've heard all the birdies love it...hmmmph! he purposely peeled away all off the coconut from the shell and threw it on the floor...then took extra time to shred the entire shell to pieces to throw it on the floor as well (he still has his first shells, he didn't do that to them, just took the little hairs off)...this was pretty much an all day project, he insisted that fresh coconut was going to get out of his play area in (little tiny) pieces tongue

i would recommend it, actually...$2.49 usd (not that much) either way it was worth the try...imo...he doesn't care for the eatable parts, but still, just the shell has lasted longer than many toys i've paid lots more for! Smile ...i bought mine in the fresh produce section, a little tub at the end of the isle! (hard to see).... Smile

the milk is fine too, but if your coconut has lots, you should limit him on it...(mine never had enuf to worry about, too old)...they love the milk, supposedly, and it will spoil them, lol...
...just chop it in half pete, hit it hard with a hammer...stick the other piece in a ziplock baggie in the fridge... billy is gonna have some fun today Very Happy
